About me.
I am a PhD Student in the Graduate Group in Ecology working at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory in Dr. Brian Gaylord's lab.
My background training is in Freshwater Biology and Spanish (double BS, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse) with minor emphases in chemistry and environmental science. Therefore, my research sits neatly at the confluence of these two 'wet' systems. It is in coastal habitats that I ask questions revolving around species and their interactions with the environment, as it relates to current and future predicted ocean conditions.
My journey has taken me across the midwest to the west coast, building a skillset through research in controlled labs along with field sampling and mesocosm manipulations. Previous research topics include microplastic accumulation, triclosan toxicity in fish embryos, cyanotoxin blooms in large lakes, and stream phosphorus sequestration.
When I'm not at work you can find me tinkering in the garden, experimenting with new ferments, adventuring around the water or tasting new beers while chomping on cheese curds.
